Police said a top Lashkar-e-Taiba ‘commander’, a foreigner and another unidentified militant were killed during the gunfight in Baramulla district.

Three militants were killed in an overnight gunfight in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The police on Monday identified the slain militants as top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Mudasir Pandit and Asrar alias Abdullah, a foreigner. Abdullah was active since 2018.

“The identity of third slain militant is being ascertained,” the police said.

The militants were trapped by a joint team of the security forces in Gund Brath village of Sopore on Sunday night during a search operation.

“Pandit was involved in the killing of three policemen, two councillors and two civilians recently in Sopore,” Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said.
