The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) – responsible for implementing the country’s first bullet train corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, opened financial bids for the construction of special bridges for the upcoming high-speed railway line. On July 19, financial bids for the construction of 11 special bridges – including four prestressed concrete or PSC bridges and seven steel truss bridges between the Zaroli Village at Maharashtra-Gujarat Border and Vadodara, in Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
The financial bids of three technically qualified bidders were opened and M/s M.G. Contractors Private Limited was declared the lowest bidder, according to a statement by NHSRCL. On July 20, the financial bids for the construction of five special bridges, including one prestressed concrete bridge and four steel truss bridges between Vadodara and Ahmedabad on the upcoming high-speed rail corridor. The 508 km long high-speed rail corridor – the country’s first bullet train, will operate at a speed of 320 km per hour, once completely ready for passenger services. Along the route, the high-speed bullet train will pass through 12 stations, covering specific regions in Maharashtra, Gujarat as well as the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
According to the organization, the entire distance will be covered in two-three hours with halts at all stations. The bullet train project which is executed along the railway network in the country is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Earlier this year, NHSRCL also signed a contract agreement with infrastructure conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) – IHI Consortium for the fabrication and procurement of 28 steel bridges, for crossing over railway lines, rivers, highways, roads, and other structures for the Mumbai Ahmedabad bullet train corridor.
