They’re great for Frosted Flakes but not so much for gender reveals.
Hapless tigers should not be utilized for outrageous gender reveal stunts, said animal welfare advocates in protest against one ostentatious couple.
Video shot at the Burj Al Arab resort hotel in Dubai, according to the Daily Star, shows a tiger leaping toward a balloon, which it pops to reveal a pink cloud — indicating the expectant mother would have a girl.
The Instagram account @LovinDubai posted a video of the majestic animal as it lunges toward the balloon, with a cheeky message to their 599,000 followers: “Gender reveals in Dubai be like.”
The post drew more than 320,000 viewers and inspired 1,100 comments, many of which responded in defense of the ferocious animal.
“I’m sickened by the mentality of the people who think this is ok,” one critic wrote.
Said another, “This isn’t something to be proud of. These animals are not pets.”
Times Now News has reported that wild animals are not allowed in public spaces per United Arab Emirates law as Dubai seeks to crack down on illegal, and potentially dangerous, zoological activity. Under current restrictions, violators may face jail time up to six months if a big cat mishap should occur.
Fortunately this particular incident involving one of nature’s most savage killers went off without a hitch, but the same can’t be said for many — too many — other parents-to-be, some of whom have lost their lives to achieve the most viral gender reveal stunts.
